The ECFMG Status Report is issued for International Medical Graduates (IMGs) only.
ECFMG transmits the ECFMG Status Report automatically.
The ECFMG Status Report contains the month and year that you passed the examinations, but not your actual scores.
Your USMLE scores can only be reported as part of an official USMLE transcript.
The Status Report will not contain any failing scores or other non-passing attempts.
If you passed the ECFMG CSA, the ECFMG Status Report will list the month and year of your passing performance.
However, if you received your ECFMG Certificate based on any of the former medical science exams listed below, those scores will be listed on the ECFMG Status Report.
The former medical science exams include: the one day ECFMG Examination, FMGEMS, VQE, NBME Part exam and FLEX scores.
Specifically, the ECFMG Status Report contains the following information:
USMLE/ECFMG Identification Number
Applicant Name
ECFMG-certified (Yes or No)
Certificate issue date
CSA valid through date, if applicable
Exams passed for ECFMG Certification
Medical school of graduation
Degree year
Explanatory Notes, if applicable
IMPORTANT NOTE: For applicants who met the clinical and communication skills requirements for ECFMG Certification
via one of the Pathways established by ECFMG
in response to the suspension and subsequent discontinuation of USMLE Step 2 CS,
this information will be displayed on your ECFMG Status Report along with the Certificate’s
expiration date for the purposes of entering US graduate medical education (GME).
USMLE Transcript
The USMLE transcript contains your entire USMLE history on Step 1, Step 2CK, Step 2CS and, if taken, Step 3.
It will include all attempts: passed, failed, incomplete, etc.
For complete information on what is included in the USMLE transcript, refer to the Official USMLE Transcripts and Providing Scores to Third Parties section of the USMLE Bulletin of Information.
To request your USMLE transcript, go to MyERAS and click on the Documents | Additional Documents section to authorize the release of your transcript.
Carefully read the instructions and information regarding the release of your USMLE transcript.
If you receive a new or updated score after submitting your MyERAS application, you will need to return to the Documents | Additional Documents section and click on “Resend My Scores” to have your updated USMLE transcript retransmitted to your programs.
Note: All USMLE transcripts are generated and transmitted by the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME).
Do not submit personal copies of your USMLE transcript scores.
The EFDO will not process the copies. For information on the status of your transcript request, send your email to webmail@nbme.org.
After you have authorized the release of your USMLE transcript, you can go into your saved programs or programs to which you may have already applied and assign it to be transmitted to those programs just as you would your personal statement and LoRs.
USMLE scores can only be reported as part of an official USMLE transcript.
If you are an IMG and have taken any of the USMLE Steps, a USMLE transcript is the only method of sending your USMLE scores history to programs.
However, before requesting a USMLE transcript, check with the programs to which you are applying to see if they require it.
The fee for the NBME to transmit your USMLE transcript to your programs is a one-time fee of $80.
Do not send this fee to the EFDO; you will be charged this fee on your MyERAS invoice once you apply to programs.

ABSITE Scores (Surgery applicants only)
ABSITE is the American Board of Surgery In-Training/Surgical Basic Science Examination.
It is required only for surgical training programs.
If you are applying to a surgical training program, upload a copy of your ABSITE using EFDO Online Services. Be sure to upload it as one single PDF file that includes all pages of all levels.
Once it is assigned to a program you have applied to, it cannot be removed.
If you are a Canadian applicant, provide a copy of your CAGS examination scores in place of the ABSITE.
If you are an Osteopathic applicant, provide a copy of your ACOS examination results in place of the ABSITE.
Note: We cannot accept any other American Board in-training examinations for the ABSITE transcript.
Programs have the capability to attach additional documents that are submitted directly to them.
Contact programs directly for instructions on how to submit any other types of exam scores they may be requesting.
